We believe that better health contributes to increased quality of life, which is why we combine cod oil with olive oil in a completely new product; ENRICHED organic extra virgin olive oil with omega-3. Both of these oils have health-promoting properties and have been known as natural mainstays for generations in their respective cultures.

Our goal is to make it easy for both young and old to achieve a positive health effect and increase the quality of life by enriching the daily diet. ENRICHED is made from sustainable raw materials and is traceable all the way back to the fishing boat and the olive grove!

 

What is omega-3?


Omega-3 is a term for a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids that are important for the body to function optimally. The body is unable to produce the essential omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) itself so we need to add these through our diet. This by, for example, eating oily fish, taking supplements or using ENRICHED.

Vegetable sources such as flaxseed, walnuts, rapeseed oil, soybean oil, flaxseed oil and margarine also contain omega-3. However, this type of omega-3 has a shorter fatty acid structure than the marine sources. These fatty acids are called ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). These fatty acids can be converted by the body itself to EPA (eicosapentanoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), but it is a very inefficient process where only about 5 percent of the ALA fatty acid is converted to EPA, and less than 0.5 percent is converted to DHA.

More than 30,000 published studies document the effects of omega-3. Many people show a clear connection between the intake of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA / DHA and the maintenance of good heart, brain and eye health. The cod oil in ENRICHED has a high content of EPA and DHA. The natural antioxidants from olive oil have a stabilizing effect on the healthy omega-3 fatty acids in cod oil and make the product even more useful to use!

Everyone needs omega-3 throughout life


EFSA (the European Food Safety Authority) is responsible for food safety in the EU and has documented and established guidelines for how much of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA healthy people need in their daily diet to achieve the various health benefits.

 

How much omega-3 do you need?

If you love fish and eat 2-3 fish meals with oily fish a week, it helps to cover the need for omega-3. If not supplements or ENRICHED in the daily diet is a good alternative.
We have listed how much ENRICHED you need to achieve the various health benefits according to EFSA's health claims:

 


    • Daily intake of 250 mg DHA (ENRICHED 4.3 ml / Equivalent 0.8 tsp) *
        • DHA helps maintain normal eye health.
        • DHA helps maintain normal brain health.

     

     

    • Daily intake of 250 mg EPA and DHA (ENRICHED 3.1 ml / equivalent 0.6 tsp) *
        • EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart health.

     

       

      • Daily intake of 200 mg DHA + 250 mg EPA and DHA (ENRICHED 5.4 ml / equivalent to 1.1 tsp) * in pregnant and lactating women
          • DHA contributes to the normal development of the fetus / baby's brain and eye health.

       

      • Daily intake of 2 g EPA and DHA (ENRICHED 24.4 ml / equivalent 1.6 tbsp) *
          • DHA or EPA and DHA help maintain normal triglyceride levels in the blood.

      DHA and EPA help maintain normal blood triglyceride levels. Beneficial effect is obtained by a daily intake of 2 g of EPA and DHA. Daily intake of 5 g EPA and DHA combined must not be exceeded.
      DHA and EPA help maintain normal blood pressure. Beneficial effect is obtained by a daily intake of 3 g of EPA and DHA. Daily intake of 5 g EPA and DHA combined must not be exceeded.

      DHA helps maintain normal brain function. Beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA.
      Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the brain in fetuses and lactating infants. For pregnant and lactating women. The benefit is achieved with a daily intake of DHA of 200 mg in addition to the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids for adults which is 250 mg of DHA and EPA.

      DHA helps maintain normal vision. Beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA. Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the eyes in fetuses and lactating infants. For pregnant and lactating women. The benefit is achieved with a daily intake of DHA of 200 mg in addition to the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids for adults which is 250 mg of DHA and EPA.
